BeadFringeLab Capabilities
BeadFringeLab is a free web app (installable as a PWA) for designing brick stitch beadwork patterns. It has two designers: the Fringe Earring Designer (brick stitch triangle top plus fringe strands) and the Charm Designer (rectangular brick stitch grids for keychains, pendants, and mini motifs). You paint beads on an interactive brick-offset grid, and the app produces a print-ready pattern chart with automatic bead counts per color. No account is required to design and export.

Inputs the App Accepts
- Tap and drag painting — tap a bead to color it, or drag across the grid to paint continuously. Undo is unlimited within a session.
- Earring pattern settings (chosen at design start): one-drop or two-drop brick stitch; triangle bottom width (default 13 beads; odd widths 7–17 with the Variable Width add-on or Pro); triangle top width (default 2; 2–7 with the add-on or Pro); fringe shape (chevron by default; rectangular and diagonal with the Fringe Shapes Pack or Pro); fringe length (Medium 41 beads by default; Short 28, Long 54, or a custom length of 1–100 beads with Pro).
- Charm grid settings: horizontal or vertical orientation; Small, Medium, or Large presets (10×20, 20×30, 30×40 beads horizontal — transposed for vertical); custom grids from 4×4 up to 200×200 with Pro.
- Color choices from five curated palettes — Free, Metallic, Pastel, Neon, and Skin Tone. Pro users can also add up to 16 custom colors by HEX code and pin favorite colors.
- Inspiration Image upload(Pro): a JPEG, PNG, WebP, or GIF photo up to 10 MB. The server extracts the photo's dominant colors, maps them to the closest bead palette colors, and applies them to your pattern. Photos are processed and immediately discarded — never stored.
- Stickers (Sticker Pack add-on or Pro): preset shapes — hearts, diamonds, circles, moons, and stars — stamped onto the grid in one tap.
Outputs the App Produces
- PNG pattern chart — a single downloadable image containing the full bead pattern (rendered server-side) plus a color legend.
- Bead counts per color — the legend lists every color used with a swatch and the exact number of beads, so your shopping list is precise.
- Miyuki Delica DB code references — each legend color includes the closest matching Miyuki Delica DB code as optional guidance (not exact conversions).
- Resolutions — 1× for free exports; 2× and 4× with the No-watermark add-on or Pro. Free exports include a diagonal watermark.
Export format is PNG only. There is no SVG, PDF, or JSON export, and no URL-based pattern sharing — patterns are shared as PNG files.
Supported Bead Sizes
Patterns are count-based charts rather than physical measurements, so they work with any uniform seed bead. The color palettes and DB code references are based on Miyuki Delica cylinder beads (size 11/0 is the common choice for fringe earrings), but you can stitch the same chart with Toho or other brands — bead counts stay identical, only the finished size changes.

Usage Examples
1. Design a fringe earring free, with no account
Open the Fringe Earring Designer, keep the default 13-bead triangle and Medium chevron fringe, paint your design with the Free palette, and download a watermarked 1× PNG chart — the legend tells you exactly how many beads of each color to buy.
2. Turn a sunset photo into an earring palette (Pro)
Upload a sunset photo with Inspiration Image. The app extracts the dominant colors and maps them to bead colors across your whole pattern. Adjust individual beads, let cloud autosave keep your work, and export a clean 4× PNG with no watermark.
3. Chart a charm for a keychain
Open the Charm Designer, pick a vertical Medium grid (30×20 beads), paint a motif — a strawberry, an initial, a flag — and export the chart. Stitch it with increasing and decreasing brick stitch.
